The Android Hydro-car is the first self propelling automobile that is fueled by water. Production of the first Hydro-car began in 2009 and has sold over 100,000 in its first year. Created by John Sashimi, a former Research and Development Engineer at Honda, he started his own brand of vehicles called Android. The Hydro-car is the first model that was created by Android and the purpose of Android is to create vehicles that ran on water. According to tests done by Motor Trend Magazine, the Hydro-car can run on 400 miles on a full tank of gas and has the top speeds of 150 miles per hour. The Hydro-car’s engine stems from a four cylinder 2.5 – liter that uses combustion to provide power to the engine. Motor Trend and Car and Driver Magazines have rated the Android Hydro-car as “The Car of the Year” in 2009 and 2010. Toyota in 2011 started talks with Android in developing such a vehicle for Toyota. Well known scientist, Jacques de Franco states, “Water propelled vehicles such as the Hydro-car will replace current gasoline fueled vehicles. These vehicles are bad for the environment whereas water is a renewable resource.” In 2010, the Hydro-car’s creator John Sashimi was awarded a Nobel Peace Prize in creating an automobile that runs on water. The engine of the Hydro-car filters the water and turns the Hydrogen ions into energy that combusts to power the automobile. Android Hydro-car is a four door sedan that has zero emissions based on National Highway and Safety tests.
