The Spooky Skeleton (Ossa Hominem Ambulatis) is a species of bipedal spiders often mistaken for human skeletons. With some males exceeding 50 kg (110 lb) in weight, it is the largest known species of spider. Spooky skeletons are found on every continent except for Antarctica.
In many cultures, burial of human corpses is believed to prevent the deceased from returning as a spooky skeleton. There is little evidence to suggest that this practice has any effect on spooky skeleton populations.

The spooky skeleton is an ambush predator that feeds exclusively on humans and domesticated animals. Spooky skeletons prefer habitats that are dark and quiet where they can lie in wait for years. Sometimes spooky skeletons will venture into human dwellings, hiding themselves in closets, basements, and under beds. Spooky skeleton attacks on humans resulted in 913,000 deaths in 2015, making them the 10th leading cause of death worldwide.
Spooky skeletons can inject venom from their fangs to paralyze prey. The venom is nonfatal, but it keeps prey immobile for several days, depending on the size of the prey. During this time spooky skeletons gorge themselves on the internal organs of their prey, such as the stomach, liver, and intestines. They avoid eating vital organs such as the heart, lungs, or brain until after the prey has expired. Adult female spooky skeletons may lay dozens of eggs into their prey, turning the prey into a host for the spooky skeleton’s offspring.
Inside the host, spooky skeleton eggs hatch into infant spooky skeletons; by then the host is either dead or moribund. The infant spooky skeletons eat their way out of what remains of the host.

Spooky skeletons are tall and agile members of the spider family. They are the largest spider; adult males stand around 2 m (6.6 ft) tall and females average 1.82 m (6 ft), with overall ranges between 1.4 to 2.5 m (4.6 to 8.2 ft) for the species in general. Males typically weigh 30 to 50 kg (66 to 110 lb), averaging 40 kg (88 lb). Females typically weigh between 20 to 40 kg (44 to 88 lb), averaging 30 kg (66 lb).
