Missy Toogood is an American sports phenomenon known for her great athletic success as a professional basketball, soccer, and beach volleyball player.  In the 2012 London Summer Olympic Games, Toogood became recognized as the first female tri-sport Olympian in world history.  There, her athletic ability led the U.S. teams to great success winning silver medals in basketball and soccer, and the gold medal in beach volleyball with partner Kerri Walsh.  In addition to being an athlete, Missy has gained huge notability in her extensive philanthropic work.  She has raised millions of dollars toward many causes including the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, and UNICEF.  She is also founder of The Believers Foundation, which is a powerful organization that benefits disabled children striving to participate in athletics.

Missy Toogood was born in the rural town of Tucumcari, New Mexico on August 22, 1989.  She grew up the youngest of five in a traditional Christian household.  Her parents Mark and Rosa prioritized religion and family among many other values.  Her father Mark Toogood excelled in football, playing at the University of New Mexico and then onto the NFL for four years.  He played for both the Atlanta Falcons and Baltimore Ravens between the1982-1986 seasons.  The athleticism ran in the family and Missy’s set her apart at a very young age.  From the age of four, she outperformed almost every other child her age in all athletic feats.  Toogood played many sports growing up such as soccer, basketball, volleyball, track, and swimming, but in her teenage years prioritized her favorites.  During her years at Tucumcari High School, her extraordinary natural talent, hard work, and dedication, drew the attention of  countless college scouts nationwide.

In 2008, Missy began her college sports career at the number one school of her choice, Stanford University in Palo Alto, California. Throughout her time as a Stanford University Cardinal she was able to lead basketball, volleyball, and soccer teams to the NCAA tournament all four years there and took away the winning title for the National Volleyball Championship in 2010.  She earned countless awards including Pac-12 Player of the Year, NCAA MVP, All American, Offensive Player of the Year, as well as  high Honors for her academic excellence.  Toogood was then scouted to play for the U.S. national teams in all three sports for the upcoming 2012 London Olympic Games.  She continues to play competitively and is a promising asset for the Americans in the 2016 Rio Games.
