Azuaje is of Native American descent and is a Perdido Bay tribe member of Lower Muscogee Creeks in Northwest Florida. She claims to draw inspiration from her own culture. Her musical style includes a blend of soul, jazz, and reggae. Azuaje’s music is also heavily influenced by John Lennon, Bob Marley, Samantha James, Groove Theory, Sub Focus, London Elektricity, Kaskade, and Pendulum. Binaural beats are embedded in her songs for brain wave entertainment (i.e., mental clarity and relaxation) in which she cites as, “the type of music you can listen to for meditation and finding your inner peace amidst a day of chaos.”
She was discovered after sampling a song by Aaliyah and posting her own songs on SoundCloud. Azuaje also has performed at community events to raise funds for environmental projects to improve water quality and preserve natural resources within Indian reservations.
On November 2010, Azuaje signed a recording contract with Make Beats Not War Music Records. In 2011, she released her debut album Let Go with her first single, “Flow.”
Azuaje has recently collaborated with A Tribe Called Red and Rudimental to work on another album to donate proceeds to her own grant program, which is for Florida college students in need of financial aid. Her second album Change is set out to be released on November 2014.
