 
The purple horse is believed to have existed over 500 years ago in the Canadian region of North America according to the journals of the peoples that shared the land with them. Unlike their horse cousins of today, they were double hoofed and had a mane that started at the mid point of their body instead of their head as depicted in the drawings included in the journals from that time. They were used to transport goods and people over long distances. A male purple horse is called an otallian and a female is called an oare.
