The Mystery of Hall Mansion

In 1806, what is formally know as Tower Hall on the San Jose State campus was once Hall Mansion. It used to belong to James Hall and his wife Loretta. In the late 1800's it is said that James was housing one of his mistresses along side his wife in the mansion, Loretta then discovered this betrayal and threatened to leave James as well as murder his mistress if he didn't remove her from their home. No one knows much beyond what happened behind those doors, but by 1908 James and his wife had fled the mansion leaving behind everything they owned. In 1912 the mansion was then bought and converted to the auditorium we as a classroom today. The story of James and his wife remain a mystery.
