The vigorwasp is a relatively newly discovered insect of the order Hymenoptera and suborder Apocrita. They are part of the Vespidae family like the common yellowjacket and hornet; however, they are not eusocial, instead preferring to travel from place to place as individual units. Found in the Amazon Rainforest and recently, the Sahara Desert, the vigorwasp serves as a welcome surprise for anyone who might come across them.

The body size of a vigorwasp can range anywhere from 3 to 9 inches long, with a wingspan of equal length. Although quite large, they are non-hostile, and are known to gravitate towards humans. Their appearance is akin to that of the yellowjacket, but their most defining feature is a green sac secreted through their abdomen. This green sac is about twice the size of the vigorwasp, and can be generated within 1 to 2 weeks, depending on the amount of nutrients consumed. The sac is carried by the vigorwasp, held by its six arms which create a suction-like effect when in contact with the sac.

The sac created by the vigorwasp contains healing properties similar to medicine, which is where their name is derived from. The liquid can be drank or turned into a spray, instilling “vigor” into the target, enhancing regenerative capabilities and granting energy. Although strange, the vigorwasp does not seem to mind losing their sac, and it has been theorized that their purpose is to help other living creatures that are in need of assistance. The liquid from these sacs have been successfully collected by medicinal institutes around the world, and are currently being researched to see what kind of breakthroughs they could lead to within the field.
